What data PromptDock handles
- Your prompts, folders and settings are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage (
chrome.storage.local). They never leave your device via PromptDock. - No analytics, no tracking, no cookies. PromptDock does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data or usage data — nothing to opt out of, because nothing is gathered in the first place.
- Page access: the extension runs only on the AI chat sites listed in its description (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Grok, Copilot, Mistral, Poe and Google AI Studio) and only to show your prompt palette and insert text you choose. It does not read your conversations, does not modify pages beyond inserting your prompt, and does not run on any other website.
- Optional cross-device sync (Pro): if you turn on sync, your prompt library is carried between your own signed-in browsers using Chrome's built-in
chrome.storage.sync. That's Google's own sync infrastructure — the data still never passes through any PromptDock server, and sync is off by default.
Exactly what it can touch, and why
storageSaves your prompts, folders and settings locally on your device. That's where they live — nowhere else.AI chat sites onlyRuns only on the ten AI chat sites listed above, to show the // palette and insert the prompt you pick. It cannot see or run on any other tab.extensionpay.comContacted only to check whether your browser has an active Pro license. Your prompts are never sent — only a license status comes back. That's the entire list. No <all_urls>, no browsing-history access, no analytics SDK, no third-party trackers bundled in.
Network requests
PromptDock makes exactly one kind of network request, and only to check your Pro license: the extension contacts extensionpay.com to ask whether your browser has an active license. Your prompts are never included in this request. If you never upgrade, you can ignore it entirely; if you do upgrade, this is how the extension knows to unlock Pro. No other network requests are made — no analytics, no telemetry, no third-party scripts, no calls to any PromptDock server (because there isn't one).
Payments (Pro upgrade)
If you upgrade to Pro, payment is processed entirely by ExtensionPay and Stripe. PromptDock never sees or stores your card details. ExtensionPay stores the minimum needed to remember that your browser has an active license — such as a randomly generated user token, and your email only if you choose to provide one for license recovery. See the ExtensionPay privacy policy and Stripe privacy policy for how they handle that data.
How long data is kept
Since your prompts and settings are stored only in your own browser, they persist for as long as you keep the extension installed — under your control the entire time. Uninstalling PromptDock, or clearing your library from the Options page, removes that data immediately and completely. There is no backend copy to separately delete, because none exists.
Your control over your data
- Access & export: open the extension's Options page and use Export to download your entire prompt library as a plain JSON file, anytime.
- Deletion: clear your library from the Options page, or simply remove the extension — both are immediate and complete.
- Portability: the exported JSON file is yours to keep, move to another machine via Import, or store as a backup.
- No account to manage: because there's no sign-up and no PromptDock server, there's no account, profile, or backend record to request changes to — the data was never anywhere but your device.
This applies equally regardless of where you live — including rights recognized under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA/CPRA (California). In PromptDock's case those rights are largely moot in the best way possible: there's no personal data held on a server for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf, because it was never collected.
Children's privacy
PromptDock is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, regardless of age — consistent with the rest of this policy, since no personal data is collected from any user.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's changelog.
